UNICEF partners with Dubai- based DP world to distribute vaccine free of charge

  DP world, based out of the United Arab Emirates, is known for its global port operations and considering the efficiency of the world that they do, Unicef has signed a deal with DP world to supply nearly two billion doses of Covid-19 free of charge. The agency set up by the United Nations to review the activities and lifestyle standard of children--Unicef--is going to partner with DP World to transport Covid-19 vaccines. The official announcement came on Wednesday. On this development, the CEO of DP world,  Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, said, “Distributing Covid-19 vaccines is humanity’s biggest logistics challenge since the end of the Second World War. We offer our infrastructure and expertise to support this effort because everyone should have access to vaccines, especially the most vulnerable in our society. UAE reaches a record breaking number for the Covid-19 distribution

Reaching a new landmark, the United Arab Emirates has fixed number one position for itself as it distributes the most number of doses of coronavirus vaccine in the world. Last week saw UAE’s daily dose rate at 1.16 for every 100 people. Taking the overall data into consideration, the doses administered in the emirati nation are only second to Israel at 20.9 among 100 people. As far as making the vaccine available to civilians in the country, the UAE ranks number fifth in the world after the United States, China, the United Kingdom and Israel.   Dubai is leading the way to vaccinate its entire population ahead of schedule as it has already started administering the second dose of Covid-19 vaccines--Pfizer-BioNTech-- to its residents. The Dubai Health Authority announced on Thursday that the healthcare centres have initiated the administration of the second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against the dreaded coronavirus.   People in the United Arab Emirates have shown their trust in vaccines approved by the UAE authorities last year in December. They have line up to get vaccine shots by booking the slots in advance. The healthcare facilities that have been selected to offer Covid-19 vaccination services are booked for the whole week. Even spots on waiting lists are only available after a week. Apart from this, medical centres are also booked till March. Through this technology, engineers at Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre in Dubai are creating parts of a prototype of MBZ-Sat. The scientists are using this cutting edge technology to ensure successful results from the launch of its satellite MBZ-Sat which will be set to hit the sky in 2023. UAE aims to vaccinate 50% of the total population in the first quarter of 2021

  The United Arab Emirates has started vaccinating residents against the coronavirus through various vaccination campaigns and till now, it has already vaccinated nearly eight percent of the total population with the Covid-19 vaccine. The official spokesperson of the UAE Health Sector Dr. Farida Al Hosani said that from the time the vaccination drive has started, 826,301 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered which equals 47,000 doses on a per day basis, which is eight percent of the total population further confirming NCEMA data given during the official press briefing Tuesday. "We aim to reach more than 50 per cent of the country's population during the first quarter of this year. This will help us reduce cases in general, reduce critical cases in particular, and control the disease better in the next phase," she said. Abu Dhabi reveals additional benefits with its Covid vaccination campaign

  As the vaccination campaign in Abu Dhabi has started to fight the coronavirus spread, authorities are also looking at increasing the list of benefits that comes to people who are getting vaccinated and these benefits will help them to come in larger numbers. The regulations are applicable for volunteers who are under phase three clinical trials for the Chinese-developed Sinopharm vaccine and also for those who have taken both the doses of the vaccine shots and waited for 28 days for the inoculation to take effect. For this very purpose, an application is being used called Al Hosn. Through this participants who are in the phase three clinical trials will be identified through a yellow star. To be eligible for these benefits, volunteers need to have received the first dose and should have also undergone PCR test.
