UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. UAE tops the region in handling coronavirus

 



The United Arab Emirates has been successfully tackling coronavirus and now to solidify its stance, the nation has also been named as the number one nation in tackling coronavirus in the region.

According to a report by the global ranking, the country stood at the 14th rank in the world among countries who have dealt with coronavirus most efficiently. The research was done as a part of the Global Soft Power Index which included 75,000 respondents from the general public and 750 special audience.

Power Index conducts the most comprehensive research study on perceptions of nation brands and this particular research included 105 countries worldwide. The UAE also ranked at the top all throughout the Middle East with a net score of +33 percent, which shows that the country was way ahead in handling the coronavirus better than its neighbours.

The scores for Qatar and Saudi Arabia are behind the emirati nation by +29 percent and +24 percent respectively. The report was made available on Twitter and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, hailed the efforts of the UAE.

“According to a survey conducted by the Global Soft Power Index issued by Brand Finance from Britain that was done through a questionnaire sent out to 105 countries around the world... The UAE ranked first in the Middle East and 14th in the world in the efficiency of dealing with the Covid pandemic (sic),” tweeted his highness as he appreciated the nation.

He also expressed his happiness on being ranked top by the most comprehensive research study saying that it is a clear evidence of the UAE’s efficiency and good performance. This is not the first time that UAE has won appreciation for its performance. Earlier it received a lot of accolades this year for setting new benchmarks for the world to see and for being able to control the spread of Covid-19.

It was earlier reported that the country ranked first in the Arab world and over ninth in the world in the safety index for covid-19, as per a study conducted by the Fobes magazine. During the start of the coronavirus pandemic, UAE ranked among the to 10 countries in the world for coronavirus treatment.

Sherif Beshara, who is the CEO of the American Hospital Dubai, also applauded the efforts of the UAE for its response to Covid-19 that is additional to the national sterilization campaign and intensifying the awareness campaigns along with highlighting social distancing and hygiene.
