The United Arab Emirates has dispatched its 18th aid aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of essential medical supplies to Lebanon as part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign. This ongoing initiative, launched in early October, aims to provide critical food, medical, and shelter supplies to the Lebanese population, who continue to face severe hardships due to ongoing conflict. In close collaboration with international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), UAE humanitarian organizations are playing a pivotal role in delivering life-saving aid to Lebanon’s vulnerable communities. Covid recovery rate reaches 96.8% as UAE continues to follow strict safety guidelines

The United Arab Emirates has been on its toes since the outbreak of coronavirus. The Emirati nation has been very consistent and persistent as far as safety concerns of its citizens are concerned.

They have taken a number of actions to control the spread of disease in the country from struct safety and travel protocols to hefty fines for flouting rules, everything was taken care of by the UAE officials.

It is the result of these efforts that the UAE’s anti-coronavirus work has paid off with a 96.5 percent recovery rate recorded thi week. Throughout this journey, the UAE has made efforts to provide ease of medical care to its citizens and keep the covid positive case number in control. This has been time and again confirmed by the UAE officials and one again is asserted by Dr Dirar Abdullah, who is the chair of internal medicare at Prime Hospital.

He said, “The numbers in the UAE seem to have stabilised, ranging between 1,300 and 1,500. Most of the patients now are either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms and in just a matter of 10 days, they are considered "non-infectious" and are on their road to recovery. We have also seen many critically-ill patients spring back to life, thanks to the UAE government that has given the healthcare sector the infrastructure and resources to provide these patients best medical care. We now have the expertise, best equipment such as ventilators in abundance and the right medication.”

Another health official, Jyothi Upadhyay, also applauded the efforts and called this a big achievement. She works as an internal medicine specialist at Aster Hospital - Mankhool. She said that this percentage of recovery rate is the lowest in the whole world where the mortality rate is below 0.5 percent. She credited the government for taking such necessary steps to control the virus.

"The UAE has also figured among the top 10 countries in the world for coronavirus treatment. This was based on sophistication and effectiveness of efforts to monitor the spread of the virus, treatment of patients, in addition to the capacity to develop, test, validate and deploy experimental vaccines and treatments," she added.

These health experts who have seen the patients and the healthcare system working with their own eyes have accepted that there was a sharp contrast from the beginning of the pandemic to how it has turned out today.  Dr Jean Marc Gaeur, CEO RAK Hospital said that unlike today we have all the medications that are needed to be given in serious cases. The UAE is now among the top 10 countries in handling coronavirus and this is due to the effectiveness of efforts to monitor the spread of the virus, he added.
