Alain Robert and Alexis Landot Launch Mashreq's Climb2Change Project

Alain Robert

Alain Robert, also known as the'spiderman' for his brave free solo climbing, and his inspired partner Alexis Landot reached the summit after a nine-hour ascent. The video, which debuted at Cop28, aimed to raise support for Climb2Change, a movement spearheaded by UAE bank Mashreq.

This climb was more than a physical challenge for Robert and Landot; it was a mix of adventure and advocacy. Inspired by Robert's previous adventures, Landot achieved a childhood dream by climbing the Burj Khalifa, adding a rope to their typical rope-free ascents.

Nelly Attar, the project's visionary, envisions widespread clean-ups on summits higher than 5,000 meters, including Everest and K2. These trips will not only eliminate accumulated trash, but will also work with local communities to find long-term solutions for mountain protection.
Mashreq's Climb2Change project is in line with their commitment to environmental stewardship. Mashreq's Group Chief Executive, Ahmed Abdelaal, underlines that the project goes beyond their immediate impact, intending to create worldwide collaboration.
