UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. UAE’s 100 Million Meals volunteer heroes in Jordan

Found this article on how the UAE's 100 Million Meals campaign is helping to ease the hardships of many Jordanians trying to put iftar on the table.

On the southern outskirts of Amman last week, employees of the Jordan Food Bank were packing cheese, halawa, cooking oil, sugar, tuna and other canned food in large cardboard boxes adorned with the UAE flag.

“Many people only have bread and tea for their iftar,” said Qawthar Al Qatraneh, president of the Jordan Food Bank, which is overseeing co-ordination with its UAE partners.

“These parcels will help.”

The UAE officially reached its Dh100 million target for the 100 Million Meals campaign in just 10 days.

A website allowed the public to donate as little as Dh10 to fund 10 meals, rising to Dh500 or more.

The total was reached thanks to the generosity of 185,000 donors inside and outside of the Emirates.
