UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. Global call to revive core human values make UAE a model nation

 An initiative taken by the UAE officials in 2019 to revive the core human values that encourage universal brotherhood, love, cooperation and tolerance is now gaining speed and the UAE authorities too feel that it has made nationa a model of tolerance.

The initiative was launched by the Abu Dhabi Document on Human Fraternity. The aim of this concept launched last year is to celebrate UAE’s tolerance, multiculturalism and the way people live happily and peacefully in the country, said Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The top UAE official spoke about this initiative on Sunday through a virtual platform which was in place to promote the Principles of Human Fraternity in the Governmental Work. This is in line with the celebration started on February 4, which will be stretching for five days and based on the kinship theme.

The minister said,“The relation between the East and the West has always witnessed honourable examples of cultural, civilisational and intellectual exchange, despite the problems and obstacles that marred that relationship at times.”

Dr Gargash was also very happy for the place that the UAE has achieved over the years adding that people from around more than 200 nations consider UAE as their second home. He added that the emirati nation has emerged as a global model of tolerance with its efforts towards happiness, tolerance and prosperity.

He also talked about how the situation is changing in today’s time and hence it has become more important for people to adopt human values as it is the only way people can achieve multiculturalism so that the world turns more harmonious.

The Forign Minister also said that the ministry is currently focusing on two key principles of human fraternity which includes tolerance and coexistence while also fighting the constant struggle of extremism and terrosism. He especially stressed on the UAE’s efforts to ‘champion’ human rights cause.

“Efforts are underway to prepare a comprehensive national human rights plan,” he said. The virtual forum was organised by the  Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence along with over 40 ministries and federal authorities discussing the mechanisms, tools and efforts used by the institutions run by the emirate aimed at enriching the Document on Human Fraternity.
