UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. UAE: Children of all the frontline healthcare workers now eligible to avail the scholarships

 In a remarkable move, the government of the United Arab Emirates decided to give scholarships to the children of frontline healthcare professionals across the country’s public schools, reported WAM.

The healthcare professionals are working tirelessly to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the UAE and through this initiative, the centre aims to provide relief from the financial burden that a lot of these frontline workers are experiencing and in the process, persuade them to keep their jobs.

As per the report carried in WAM, nearly 1,850 children have already received these scholarships that not only covers the cost of tuition but also takes care of the transportation and laptop expenses.

Around 1,850 children have already received the scholarships, which cover costs of tuition, transportation, and laptops. The Emirati nation has been very careful with teh healthcare professionals as it is well-aware of the fact that they are fighting with their lives to save other lives and working day and night to ensure that people are being taken care of.

Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al-Nahyan Chairman of the Board of the Frontline Heroes Office, said, “We, at the Frontline Heroes Office, hope to provide the same level of support and compassion that those on the frontline have provided to millions of people across our nation.”

The UAE also established a Frontline Heroes Office in July this year to ensure that be it the medical staff or the non-medical staff are getting the support they need. The country has been actively supporting the requirements of the health care professionals which has resulted in taking this decision.

The Chairman added, “We wish their children every success as they embark upon a new school year and we look forward to watching them follow in their parents’ footsteps to become outstanding members of society.”

The Education Minister Hussain bin Ibrahim Al-Hammadi was all praises for the decision as he described the initiative as an ‘example of community solidarity’. He added that as these frontline workers are doing this noble and invaluable work, the Ministry of Education will ensure to provide educational support for their children.
