In Libya, although
both the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Tripoli based Government of
National Accord(GNA) have announced a humanitarian truce to deal with the
Corona virus (COVID-19) last Saturday, the two sides have accused each other
since Sunday of violating the truce. On Monday the LNA spokesman, Ahmed
Al-Mismari, accused GNA forces of violating the declared truce in Al-Hirah,
south of Tripoli and of bombing its forces with artillery. The GNA operation
room "Vulcan of Anger" announced that two people had been killed by a
bullet that landed in their home in Ain Zara on Monday. The Tripoli forces, a
coalition of armed groups and criminal gangs, have received from Turkey a large
amount of reinforcements, included thousands of Syrian fighters transferred by
the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, from the Syrian city of Idlib to
Libya.
Yesterday,
the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshall Khalifa Haftar captured a
Syrian mercenary fighting with the militias of the Tripoli-based Government at
Ain Zara battle axis in southern Tripoli.LNA fended off on Wednesday a massive
attack on its forces, by militias allied with GNA, at al-Witia air base west of
Tripoli, according to local sources. “Our forces fend off a massive attack by
Erdogan’s mercenaries and terrorist organizations militias on al-Witia air
base, defeating them, where they suffered huge losses,” confirmed the Media
Center of LNA al-Karama Operations Room.“These are the militias that do not
recognize armistice, agreements or humanitarian situations,” the Center added.
LNA was
forced to fight because GNA militias launched an operation to control the
military air base, violating the humanitarian truce for confronting Coronavirus
pandemic. This operation was coordinated by Turkish officials in Tripoli
confirming that even not the coronavirus can stop the sultan Erdogan in his crazy
colonial expansion venture. Millions of citizens in Libya are prohibited from
essential services and are at risk of not receiving adequate treatment if the
disease starts to spread faster, due to the militias supported by Erdogan who
in his country, on the other hand, is taking the necessary measures to contain
the virus, including the arrest of hundreds of journalists.
