UAE's Vision for Climate Action Takes Center Stage at BRICS Dialogue.

Took an outstanding step as global leader, Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister for Climate Change and the Environment from UAE made her presence felt during the BRICS High-Level Dialogue on Climate Change, which held in Moscow on August 30, 2024. This is a confirmation that UAE has been consistent in its pursuit for climate actions and international cooperation. During session one, Dr. Al Dahak outlined UAE’s commitment of reducing emissions by 40% by year 2030 as part of Net Zero 2050 Strategy for example this commitment does not only satisfy global climate objectives but it also serves as guidance for countries looking to include their economic needs into sustainable development.

According to Dr. Al Dahak's recent announcement about a significant renewable energy investment of US$50 billion in various countries – which followed another planned US$50 billion for the next ten years – UAE has decided to set a good example in this regard. She accentuates the need for collaboration among nations especially within BRICS to tackle the issue of climate change. An active effort on the part of UAE promoting carbon market development and facilitating international partnerships indicates that there is an awareness emerging that effective climate solutions can no longer be limited by fenceless national frontiers at all.

In her statements made at the second meeting, Dr. Al Dahak presented an irrefutable argument for greater cooperation between BRICS countries, arguing that without such cooperation it would be hard to address issues like hunger and poverty worldwide. Her dedication towards improving climate change initiatives all over the world and within the United Arab Emirates (UAE) provides an optimistic outlook towards achieving sustainability. Under Dr. Al Dahak’s guidance, the UAE has positioned itself to be a central actor in climate change diplomacy and sustainable development by promoting strong partnerships and defining clear routes for climate actions.
