 The visit of New Zealand's Prime Minister, Rt. Hon Christopher Luxon, to the United Arab Emirates on January 14, 2025, marked a milestone in the 40-year diplomatic relationship between the two nations. Meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to fostering deeper bilateral cooperation in trade, sustainability, and global peace efforts. UAE Raises Alarm Over Famine In Sudan, Praises UNSC’s Focus On Crisis

Current situation in Sudan is worsened by War conflicts and catastrophic situations.Which in turns to famine in Sudan that escalates starvation of millions of people. UAE raising a call to action that rooted in its historic ties, which has issued a grave warning about the Sudan famine that urging immediate international intervention. 

On Tuesday, the UAE affirmed that the humanitarian crisis in Sudan demands an emergency response that facilitates quicker delivery of aid and helps secure a ceasefire. UAE expressed deepest concern over the declared famine in parts of North Darfur particularly in Zamzam camp in Sudan. over 25 million Sudanese citizens have been affected in this crisis. Highlighting the likelihood of famine in the Abu Shouk and Al Salam camps, and the catastrophic hunger conditions affecting people in nine additional Sudanese states.

In order to tackle the situation into control, UAE welcomes UN Security Council meeting, which highlights the urgency of the situation in Sudan. It is imperative that the international community maintains its focus on Sudan. On the other side, UAE urges Sudan's Armed Forces to lift restrictions on humanitarian access and allow safe operations for humanitarian workers. The UAE condemns the use of starvation as a weapon of war.

UAE condemns the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, calling for an emergency response to secure a ceasefire and facilitate aid delivery.At the same time, equal support and concern from Sudan forces only can protect civilians in Sudan, suffering from starvation.Notably UAE has allocated USD 70 million to address the urgent humanitarian needs in Sudan through UN agencies and humanitarian organizations, and USD 30 million to regional countries to support Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries.

The UAE's call on action emphasized the imporance of global solidarity and swift action to prevent further tragedy in a nation which shares deep bonds. It sets an example to other nations to follow UAE's principles in helping countries under vulnerable situations.
