Abu Dhabi’s Hope Consortium aiming to store and deliver 18 billion vaccines by the end of 2021

Abu Dhabi's Hope Consortium is expecting to store 18 billion coronavirus jabs and furthermore deliver them around the globe by the end of 2021, a senior health official expressed on Thursday, the National reported.

The Hope Consortium has been able to distribute more than 20 million Covid vaccines to 26 nations since it was formed (November 2020), authorities stated. The members stated that the number has so far been restricted by production, yet the deliveries are expected to quickly speed up throughout the next few months.

The Hope Consortium didn't specify the immunization makers it is working for in the light of the privacy agreement. However, according to The National report, Robert Sutton, head of the Abu Dhabi Ports logistics expressed that they incorporate western-make mRNA vaccine, which requires super chilly storage.

"The Abu Dhabi ports have the biggest and best cold stockpiling facility for the vaccines. We not only deliver them to air terminals across the world but also, coordinate with administrations to smoothly transport them to centers and hospitals where they need to be administered," stated Mohamed Juma Al Shamsi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports and executive of the operations driving committee of the Hope Consortium.

Dr. Omar Najm, the Department of Health Abu Dhabi's senior advisor, stated that the worldwide logistics center would be ready to store 18 billion covid-19 vaccine doses in the coming future. It can right now store six billion vaccines and ship small consignments to nations that have limited cold storage facilities.

Dr. Najm added that over 4 billion people around the planet would need to get inoculated by the next two years to irradicate the spread of the pandemic.

A large portion of the current Covid-19 jabs has been successfully delivered in two doses, averaging to a minimum requirement of around eight billion doses. However, the rise of Covid variants around the globe and the inconstant duration of protection proposed by jabs suggest it could be important to prepare for increasing more distribution.

The Consortium facility in Abu Dhabi can store 70 million vaccines, which need standard refrigeration temperatures of 2°C to 8°C, including those made by Oxford/AstraZeneca and Sinopharm.

It additionally can deal with between 3,000,000 and 5,000,000 vaccines that need a super chilly storage place. There are around 50 cooling farm units in the facility for storing such immunizations.
