Abu
Dhabi’s efforts to contain the novel coronavirus has been applauded by everyone
who knows what has been done in the emirate.
Initially,
when carriers of COVID-19 were found in Abu Dhabi, experts showed their
concerns on how well can the government handle the situation as Abu Dhabi as it
invites a lot of tourism which means a lot people travelling from every part of
the world and so the spread of the virus will prone in such an area. But to
cancel out all of these doubts, the government took some immediate steps to
safeguard Abu Dhabi.
Be
it the Ministry of Education announcing a four-week closure of all public and
private schools and higher education institutions across the UAE starting 8
March 2020 and further extending it to Suspending prayers in all places of
worship, every possible step has been taken to stop mass gathering and abide by
social distancing principle. Not only this but to ensure that the education and
learning process is not compromised while lockdown, Abu Dhabi On 22 March 2020,
started educating students of schools and higher education institutes through
distance learning.
The
local government offices in Abu Dhabi adopted a remote working system in a bid
to ensure the health and safety of its employees and customers. The UAE,
especially Abu Dhabi, has a coherent technical infrastructure for employees to
complete their tasks while working remotely, and participate in meetings and
discussions through tech help.
Sporting
events were postponed, Visa’s were suspended, flights were suspended and every
other measure was taken to keep the emirate safe. Even as Abu Dhabi plans to
open, it is taking all the measures that can ensure public health safety. For
example, Drivers are permitted to cross the border if they can show police the
results of a negative Covid-19 test. And even travellers can enter when shown
the result of COVI-19 test as negative in the past 48 hours and then travellers
can continue their journey into Abu Dhabi, keeping in mind that masks and
social distancing are mandatory.
Abu Dhabi is surely an
example in front of world leaders. What do you think?
