Quad alliance push for 5G technology as they join hands to promote supply chains

Quad alliance - 5G technology

In the first ever in person meet of the Quad leaders hosted by the president of the United States Joe Biden, it has been decided that they will work together to promote 5G in their respective nations and push for a supply chain with each other. The Quad alliance includes India, Japan, Australia and the US.

There was a special consideration given to technologies while discussing different regional issues in the region. 5G is one of the emerging technologies that the Quad announced its plans to establish a semiconductor supply chain initiative to map and focus on the vulnerabilities and solve them.

Though none of the representatives of the country took the name of China, from their previous statements it was clear that this is being done to contain the spread of China in this department. The geopolitical esports also stressed that this is a strategic move and will curb China’s activities in the region.

The meeting was held in Washington and the official statement said, “Resilient, diverse and secure technology supply chains - for hardware, software and services - are vital to our shared national interests.”

The prime minister of India Narendra Modi was present along with the US president, Japanese  Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and together the four leaders stressed on cooperation among themselves on supply chains and further strengthening the values with each other's partnership.

They also further added that together the nations will also be jointly working towards security and prosperity so that they can work towards handling international disasters and emergencies.

It is a great opportunity for India as this will boost its political efforts to outline China and establish itself as a manufacturing unit. India, China have been at odds for a long time now and it becomes all the more necessary for India to team up with other countries to counter China’s action.

Another reason why Quad countries are strengthening its efforts in this department is because of tech dependency on Taiwan. Taiwan has strained relations with China making it further difficult for it to be a platform for supplying hi-tech products.

China has already started to violate Taiwanese airspace along with carrying cyber attacks in the region. Due to this, there can be a head to mouth situation for these countries.
