UAE's humanitarian acts in Afghanistan

When Talibans captured Kabul(capital of Afghanistan) and Afghanistan last month(August 2021) every nation around the world & it's leaders were concerned about the 'political crisis' the coup is going to cause and then about the lives of the millions of Afghans. But, UAE was 'first one' to show it's solidarity and concern towards Afghans in Afghanistan which immediately start acting from then to now, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makatoum, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Since, the first day of coup in Afghanistan, lives of many Afghans was disturbed without proper food, shelter and other basic necessities; UAE have been providing them food. shelter and other needs through both governmental and non-governmental organizations which is applauded by every other nation & leaders across the world as, 'One of the best humanitarian act of UAE' in recent times. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment sent four planes loaded with 60 tonne of food aid to Kabul to provide for the basic needs of the Afghan people. "Unofficially (or) even officially, United Arab Emirates has been identified as 'air bridge of Afghanistan' that deliver tons of aid to Afghanistan frequently and over 300,000 people, mostly women and children, are expected to benefit form the Emirati humanitarian aid.," a Kabul airport operations manager said. UAE is also constructing a entire village with 200 houses, 4 mosques, a shopping complex, a clinic and several artesian wells in the village to benefit the disabled people who were stranded in Afghanistan after the coup. On September-18-2021, UAE's Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment sent it's 8th aircraft with aids to Afghanistan which was filled with 13 tonne of humanitarian and food supplies. The UAE airlift continues 24 hours a day to intensify its assistance for the benefit of thousands of Afghan families, especially women, children and the elderly.

On the other hand, immediately after the 'coup' the UAE started to evacuate Afghans and their families who were stranded in Afghanistan and UAE has facilitated the evacuation of more than 39,000 people stranded in Afghanistan, second only to the USA. As acknowledging and applauding to UAE's efforts of evacuation operations United States President Joe Biden thanked Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed al-Nayham, in a phone call. Biden also exclaimed that, these collaborative efforts will ensure strong strategic partnership between United States and United Arab Emirates. Followed by Biden, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez thanked the UAE for assisting in the massive evacuation operations from Afghanistan. And, Patrick Moody, United Kingdom's ambassador to the UAE thanked the UAE for supporting international withdrawal efforts in Afghanistan. Being a near & dear neighbor to Afghanistan, Israel have started operating commercial flights to Afghan from last week and during the first week of September, with the help of few Israeli philanthropists the UAE evacuated dozens of asylum seekers, including female athletes, fleeing Taliban rule in Afghanistan and landed them in Abu Dhabi.

While girls in Afghanistan were struggling to get back to school and frightened to come out of their houses, the UAE evacuated 41 Afghan girls who belongs to Cycling & Robotic teams and along with them were high-at-risk human rights activists and their family members from Kabul and hosted all of them at Emirates Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi. From UAE, they'll depart to Canada and regarding this, Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi, director of the International Security Co-operation Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, said: "UAE is deeply honored to work alongside Canada & other International partners to assist Afghans on humanitarian grounds. UAE is sparing no effort to reach the 'surety' about women, girls' safety and better future, who were evacuated from Afghanistan".

While, the world is watching UAE's humanitarian service to Afghanistan continually, the leaders of UAE are also making discussions, phone calls, meetings with leaders of nations like Saudi Arabia, United Stated, India and many to ensure 'peace' to prevail in the lives of the people in Afghanistan.
