UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. Abu Dhabi becomes the first city to get the revolutionary Covid treatment

 


Leading the healthcare sector by example, Abu Dhabi has become the first city in the world to get the revolutionary coronavirus treatment on Friday. The is a part of an advanced medical unit which has made it possible for the UAE capital to get a treatment which can be used to treat specific cases of coronavirus.

This is special treatment ment for certain people who are in more danger than the others once infected with the virus. Since the outbreak of coronavirus, the World Health Organisation has released a certain section of people who are more prone to getting infected and this treatment is meant for those people.

The drug used in the process contains monoclonal antibodies, which will be administered intravenously. They can be used for adults and children above 12 years of age who meet the eligibility criteria and are at more risk than the others.

The Abu Dhabi Health Department had agreed to get the antiviral drug as it partnered with GlaxoSmithKline for the extraordinary treatment plan. The drug is called Sotrovimb and Abi Dhabi received the first shipment of the Antiviral drug on June 15. As per the clinical trials conducted till now, it has been found out that clinical trials might be avoided.

Even for severe cases, the drug prevents hospitalisation and there are 85 percent chances that this drug could benefit the most vulnerable groups. One of the highlights of this drug is that it can be used to treat all the knon mutated forms of the virus that have occurred till date.

 The drug got approved by the US Food and Drug Administration following which the UAE health ministry gave its nod for emergence use of the drug. Other than that, the top officials also stressed that Abu Dhabi will continue to make efforts to stay in top in the list of nations best at dealing with pandemic attacks.

The promise was given by the under secretary of the UAE health department Dr Jama Mohammed Kaabi who also assured the citizens that the city will continue to treat their safety as its top priority. Abu Dhabi based company Rafed was the one to procure the medicine in the city. The company’s CEO Rashd Al Qubaisi said that Sotrovimab is a breakthrough product and it will be extremely beneficial in the fight against Covid-19
