Corona pandemic which is
spread all over the world as of now and it have already caused the people to
sit inside their home to stay safe and stay away from corona. One of the severe
damage caused by the pandemic is that, the shortage of food supplies and the
World Food Programme (WFP) must find ways to continue saving and changing the lives
of the most affected because of this virus threat. When we say 'most affected',
it includes the millions of children who were receiving their meals from
schools supported by WFP and not during this lockdown phase. Understanding the
situation caused by corona pandemic, the WFP is finding adaptations to carry out
their supportive measures during this time, as they did it before lockdown.
His Highness discussion with WFP with the ability to
understand the people's difficulties in day-to-day life during pandemic, His
Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, made
discussion with David, Beasley, Executive Director of the UN World Food
Programme. The sole reason of the discussion is find ways to speed up the
process to ensure people get their food during this pandemic and UAE is available
to co-ordinate for getting assistance.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed
bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said,"The entire world is
currently facing an unprecedented challenge that entails a coordinated and
efficient global response to address its fallout, not only on the health level,
but also its repercussion on the economic, social aspects of life and living
standards,” . His Highness also insisted that the pivot institutions around the
world must do their fullest at this time.
World Food Programme (WFP) is
working tirelessly along with other United Nations and as well as International
organizations to accelerate the response for novel corona virus. The foremost
need is to support people in defending and handling the situation of lockdown
caused by corona pandemic. Meanwhile, United Nations considers the people's
safety and health from not being infected is vital and works with Supply Chain
Interagency Coordination Cell led by the World Health Organization (WHO),
in-order to provide visibility on the demand of critical supplies, such as
gloves, masks, protective suits, and clinical equipment.
